－What You Can Expect －
Setting out from Reykjavík, you’ll embark on our state-of-the-art bus fleet, featuring individual computer tablets at each seat. These tablets provide access to our GPS-Enabled In Bus Audio Guide, which is available in 10 different languages.
On clear days, your journey will unveil breathtaking sights, including the majestic Hekla Volcano and the distant glacier-clad Eyjafjalljökull Volcano rising above the coastal mountains. If you peer just a few kilometers off the coast, you may catch a glimpse of the volcanic Westman Islands. Our first destination is the impressive 60-meter-high Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, renowned for its concealed path that leads behind the cascading water. Next, we make a stop at the powerful Skógafoss Waterfall, where a short climb up a set of stairs reveals one of Iceland’s most scenic panoramas.
En route to Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, we’ll pause at Sólheimajökull Glacier. Here, you’ll witness the mighty Atlantic waves crashing onto the black sands, with the striking basalt sea stacks and the enormous basalt-column cave leaving you in awe.
Our final stop is the village of Vík, the southernmost settlement in Iceland, located along the primary ring road around the island. Despite its small population of 291 inhabitants, it plays a significant role as the largest settlement within a 70-kilometer radius. Following this, we make our way back to Reykjavík.
We seek to observe the Northern Lights as the evening descends, provided that weather conditions permit. For many, witnessing the Northern Lights is the ultimate reason for venturing to our northern island during winter. The Aurora’s mystique and magic are truly unforgettable. There’s simply nothing that captures the essence of an Icelandic winter quite like the thrill of hunting for the Northern Lights.
These enchanting lights, born from potent solar storms, require clear winter skies to grace us with their presence. Rest assured, our seasoned operational team boasts decades of experience in deciphering weather patterns. We meticulously assess daily cloud and Northern Lights forecasts, ensuring we only depart when we anticipate a high likelihood of witnessing this natural spectacle. Each of our Northern Lights expeditions is led by our specially trained Northern Lights guides, known for their knowledge and helpfulness. They’re even eager to provide tips on capturing photographs of this captivating natural phenomenon.
