The World Religious Summit for Peace is held annually at Enryakuji Temple on Mount Hiei, based on the Tendai sect's spirit of "illuminating one corner."
This year, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Enryaku-ji Temple being registered as a World Heritage Site, the oldest building of Enryaku-ji Temple, Shakado Hall, will be open to the public for the first time in seven years. In addition, the secret Shaka Nyorai statue will be open to the public for the first time in 33 years, and there will also be a special exhibition of the "DANDELION PROJECT," an art of peace that connects the world.
Enryakuji Temple has been sending out messages of peace and connecting people. Through this exhibition, we will preserve history and pass on the desire for peace to the next generation by utilizing art, which can communicate beyond language.
About "DANDELION PROJECT" Participatory art by artist Ryotaro Muramatsu. When participants stand in front of the art object "DANDELION" and blow on the object's fluff, dandelion fluff carrying prayers for peace spreads across the wall with projection mapping, and the candlelight on the floor softly illuminates the Shakado Hall. The oldest building in Enryakuji Temple is combined with the latest digital art technology to create a new world of Buddha, which can be experienced.
To date, it has been exhibited in 61 locations around the world, including Tokyo, Shanghai, and Paris, and is currently being experienced by many people at the "NAKED FLOWERS Flower Dance Lights and Shadows Exhibition, Hong Kong Station" in Hong Kong.
