The Yoshida Fire Festival takes place annually on August 26th and 27th at the Kitaguchi Hongu Shi Sengen Shrine and Suwa Shrine in the Fuji Yoshida area. With a history spanning over 400 years, it has earned its place as one of Japan’s three distinctive festivals and is also counted among the country’s top ten fire festivals. On the afternoon of August 26th, a religious ceremony is held at the shrine. During this event, two sacred portable shrines – the “Omyoujin-san” representing the deity and the “Oyama-san” representing Mount Fuji – are paraded through the Kamiyoshida area amongst the local residents. As evening falls, the two shrines are placed in a location called “Otabashi,” where a grand bonfire is ignited. This bonfire takes the form of over 90 bamboo shoots, towering up to 3 meters high. The illumination from these torches along the approximately 2-kilometer-long road creates a captivating and breathtaking spectacle. The festival carries on into the late hours of the night, marking the pinnacle of the celebrations. We have thoughtfully arranged for a 3-hour duration, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the unique allure of one of Japan’s three major exceptional festivals!
* Anticipate Crowds on Festival Day: It’s important to note that the festival day is expected to draw large crowds. Prior to embarking on any self-guided activities, kindly ensure you verify the bus location and departure time with the tour leader.
* Plan Ahead for Festival Crowds: Given the potential for significant crowds during the festival, we recommend confirming the return time to the bus boarding area in advance. This precaution will help you avoid any delays in returning later than intended.
The Mount Fuji 5th Station is positioned at the midsection of the iconic Mount Fuji, celebrated for its awe-inspiring vistas of Lake Kawaguchi, Lake Yamanaka, and Fujiyoshida on clear days. Beyond this, owing to its location on the slopes of Mount Fuji, it offers a near-proximity perspective of the majestic summit itself. Within the 5th Station area, you’ll come across the historical “Tenjosan Komitake Shrine,” boasting a legacy spanning more than a millennium. Notably, the annual opening festival held in July stands out as a significant attraction, rendering it an essential destination for all those embarking on the Mount Fuji climb.
Fuji Herb Garden is a park themed on flowers and natural scenery. In addition to enjoying various plants and beautiful scenery, you can also buy local flower and herb products. Fuji Herb Garden has a large collection of flower products, including flower seeds, bouquets, potted plants, flower tableware and stationery, etc. In addition, Fuji Herb Garden also has an observatory where you can enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of Mount Fuji, which is one of the must-see attractions in the local area to appreciate Mount Fuji!
